Our ROOTS

In the summer of 2016, Scott Fairley and the founders of Optimotive Technologies had graduated high school. They came together with a shared passion for autonomous and connected vehicles, having gained prior experience working together on their high school’s first robotics team.

Their goal was to create a future where autonomous vehicles and robotics platforms could operate seamlessly, regardless of weather conditions or environmental factors. As they delved deeper into their work, they discovered that companies operating in extreme environments, such as construction sites, mining operations, and oil and gas production, had little to no room for the automation of tedious tasks.

This realization led to the birth of a new robotic platform, the IRIS 2 Mk1. This autonomous vehicle was specifically designed to provide automated services to companies operating in extreme environments, allowing them to automate a wide range of tasks and increase productivity.

IRIS is equipped with a range of advanced technologies, including computer vision systems, as well as ruggedized hardware and software designed to withstand extreme weather conditions and harsh environments. Its capabilities include autonomous navigation, obstacle avoidance, and the ability to perform a wide range of tasks, such as conducting surveys, and performing inspections.

Through our work on IRIS and our broader mission of advancing autonomous and connected vehicle technology, Optimotive has, and will continue to make a significant impact on the field of robotics and automation.
